Hey there everyone!
It's been a long time! How have you been?
Well, anyway, let's dive straight into catching up. I tried to log on a few weeks ago, and discovered a worrying message, saying that my account had been locked, and it refused to let me log in. I eventually logged into my alt account, PM'd Wade, and got it unlocked within an hour, which is lovely!
In more interesting news, some of you may remember a project I was working on in 2012 called Decima. Unfortunately, some snags have been hit with that, in that the framework I was using, XNA, is being pulled by Microsoft, meaning I can't develop it!
Fortunately, I've come across a new engine called Unity, which is pretty nice (though not without weird quirks). I didn't, however, jump straight back into Decima, since having months of work kicked out of the window in one announcement hits a pretty heavy blow to motivation. Instead, I'm working on a couple of other projects first, though I fully intend to come back to Decima, and make it even better than before!
Now, I've decided to start work on a game that was originally just a joke I had with TaroNuke, and I decided it would be fun to actually make it. That game is...
This is a fan game based on Touhou, obviously. The aim was to make a classic kart racer, like Mario Kart or Crash Team Racing, because in my opinion, there aren't enough of them! This is the first fully 3D game I've ever made, and so far, it seems to be going pretty well (though the learning curve is pretty steep, and I keep finding myself wanting to redo things). Anyway, an early gameplay video was put up on Youtube a while ago, so you can all have fun watching that! (Keep in mind there have been a few changes since this video was published! It is a work in progress after all!)
And finally, I've hit my 3rd year of university. Which means I'll be leaving come this summer, which in turn means I need a job! I'm hoping to work in game development. With any luck I can work my way up and eventually get a chance to develop some of my ideas with an actual budget. That's the long-term goal anyway, for now, I'm just looking for a job in the industry. Hopefully, I'll be able to stay in the UK. I've applied to Jagex studios already, and they seem keen and interested so far. I've also applied to Microsoft, but I haven't heard back from them yet. I haven't yet applied to Lionhead, but I plan to in the near future. So, if anyone knows of a job I could apply for, or is willing to employ me. Hello, I'm here!
And that about sums up everything so far! Nice catching up with you guys after so long, though I do wonder how many people I know are still here, me having been away for so long!
